Color Cube Breaker

Color Cube Breaker is a sort puzzle game by Amobear Studio, released in November 2025, and it has already scaled to generate over $50K in daily IAP revenue, according to AppMagic.

Let’s take a closer look at the key design decisions behind its early success.

Proven Concept
The game builds on a well-validated formula. Its core design is nearly identical to ‘Pixel Flow’ by Loom Games, which itself takes heavy inspiration from ‘This Is Blast’ by Voodoo, except for one major twist: the rotating conveyor belt. This moving belt adds a layer of dexterity to what is otherwise a purely strategic, static puzzle format, allowing players to avoid bench-capacity fail states by quickly swapping shooters between the bench and the belt.

Smooth Progression
The game features a simple tutorial and levels with deterministic puzzles, rewarding players who learn and adapt. Difficulty cues like labeled hard levels help set expectations, while polished UX touches such as breathing animations on movable shooters and sped-up movements when victory is guaranteed, ensure a smooth, satisfying flow. Additionally, the game steadily introduces its boosters and new mechanics such as hidden shooters, hard pixels, and double shooters, to keep engagement fresh.

Hybrid Monetization
The game leverages both IAA and IAP models to monetize players. Interstitial ads begin appearing around level 20, while RV ads at level completion start at level 10. Additional RV placements can be found in the first revival, first booster unlock, lives refill, the video bar, and the in-game shop, where soft-currency RVs are capped at two every six hours. On the IAP side, the game offers a robust shop with bundles, starter packs, and ad-removal offers, providing value across different player segments.

With multiple hits now validating this “shooting sort-puzzle” formula, it’ll be interesting to see how many more variations we’ll encounter in the future and how studios will differentiate within this fast-moving niche.
