Dalgona Candy Cookie

Dalgona Candy Cookie is a hypercasual arcade game by Livdg Limited, launched on October 15, 2021 and three years after release, it has managed to scale up to 200K+ daily downloads according to AppMagic

The game is inspired by the viral Dalgona challenge from Squid Game Season 1, where players carefully carve out a candy shape without breaking it

Let’s take a look at the design strategies of this game.

Calm Yet Competitive Gameplay
Since the game contains no time constraints, players are allowed to take their time and focus on precision. However, as shapes become increasingly complex, players naturally challenge themselves to complete levels without breaking the cookie on their first try. Additionally, the game also features a multiplayer mode, where players race against a random opponent to complete a shape first.

Creative Personalization
The game offers a Creation Mode, enabling players to not only design their own cookies using a wide variety of shape and color presets but also play with their creations. It further enhances engagement through daily quests, which introduce unique shape challenges and reward players with collectible stickers. Additionally, players can unlock various customization options, including backgrounds, cookie designs, and pins, creating a more personalized and immersive experience.

Ad Monetization
The game uses banner, interstitial and rewarded ads for monetization. Interstitials are shown at level completions, while RV ads offer multiple incentives, allowing players to claim level completion bonuses, earn multiplayer tickets, level up skills, open random chests for extra rewards and unlock new customization options in Creation Mode. Additionally, an ad removal option is available for players who prefer an uninterrupted experience.
