Prison Survival: Tap Challenge

Prison Survival: Tap Challenge is a hypercasual game by Higame Global, released on November 5th 2024 and it has been doing 350K+ daily downloads last week, with peak downloads even exceeding 500K, according to AppMagic.

Let’s see what kind of design strategies this hypercasual game uses…

Familiar Variation
The game draws inspiration from the popular TV show ‘Squid Game’, incorporating game modes that mirror its iconic challenges. Players progress through these familiar modes sequentially until a round is over, but variation in gameplay mechanics make them challenging to master. Even though the repetitive nature of the game modes can lead to staleness after multiple playthroughs, the game’s monetization model tries to maximize profits while the player is still engaged.

Too Many Ads
Players become victims of the game’s aggressive monetization model as soon as they load the game, as it is heavily saturated with banners, interstitials, and rewarded ads. However, the challenging gameplay variations often necessitate the use of rewarded ads to prevent player frustration. Additionally, the game features a vast collection of cosmetic accessories that can be readily unlocked through watching rewarded ads.
