Car Sort

Car Sort is a hybrid casual sort puzzle game by Rollic Games, released in April 2026, and it has already scaled past $60K in daily IAP revenue, according to AppMagic.

This marks Rollic‘s first major hybrid puzzle success since its dominant run in the genre last year. Let’s take a look at the design behind this game.

Proven Concept
The game combines currently popular conveyor-belt mechanic with deterministic levels, a formula that has powered many successful hybrid casual puzzles games. These puzzle levels remain consistent across attempts, allowing players to improve through trial and error, while the limited space on the conveyor belt act as the primary fail condition. The game also occasionally rewards quick, active decision-making, especially in tight situations such as swapping cars between different slots just before the belt fills up.

Progression Layer
This game also closely follows Rollic’s proven hybrid casual puzzle template, featuring a simple FTUE, a straightforward level map with clearly labeled hard levels, and no extensive meta layer. A booster system is gradually unlocked for players, along with new puzzle mechanics that keep the experience fresh. Progression is further supported by early introduced events such as passes and win streaks, providing additional rewards, while also creating effective loss-aversion loops.

Hybrid Monetization
The game features both IAA and IAP monetization. Interstitials are introduced only after level 16, ensuring a smooth onboarding experience, while RV ads are used for level-end reward multipliers and life replenishments. On the IAP side, the in-game shop offers various bundles, soft currency packs and ad removal offers. The premium tier of the pass event also includes an increased maximum lives cap, making it particularly attractive for players who frequently encounter fail states. Additionally, all booster purchases and revives require soft currency spending, nudging players more towards IAPs.

Genre Insight: Sort Puzzle
Looking at the sort puzzle games launched over the last 12 months, 7 titles generated more than $1M in IAP revenue last month. Despite these successes, the genre’s hit rate remains at just 0.4%. Interestingly, 6 of these 7 games feature conveyor-belt mechanics, with Drop the Cat being the only exception.
