Meowdoku

Meowdoku is a logic puzzle game by Oakever Games, released in April 2026, and it has already scaled to 300K+ in daily downloads, according to AppMagic.

Let’s take a look at the design choices behind this game.

Accessible Theme
At its core, the game isn’t introducing a completely new puzzle mechanic. It’s essentially a variation of Sudoku that combines elements of Minesweeper, similar to Queens. What makes it stand out is its presentation. By wrapping the mechanics around cats, the game delivers a more approachable and appealing experience to a broader audience. Combined with the absence of move limits or timers, it offers a relaxed, low-friction gameplay experience that almost anyone can pick up.

Smooth Gameplay
The game features determinstic levels, allowing players to gradually improve through practice, while difficulty labelings help set expectations. One of its most interesting aspects is the extensive use of social comparison and performance prompts, which continually reinforce player motivation. To reduce frustration, the game includes two boosters, one of which features a detailed hint system that teaches players the underlying logic rather than simply providing a quick answer. Additionally, the game unlocks a daily challenge at level 21 and features a daily streak system with a Day 7 reward to support long-term engagement.

Ads-Only Monetization
So far, the game relies entirely on IAA monetization. Banner and interstitial ads begin appearing from Level 11, while RV ads are used for booster purchases and revives after failed attempts. Interestingly, the game also supports offline play, allowing players to enjoy the entire experience without ads, although without access to hints or revives.

What do you think is the next step for Meowdoku? Will it remain an ads-only game in the long run? Share your thoughts below.
