Food Hunt

Food Hunt is a sort puzzle game by Funfinity, released in May 2026, and it has already scaled to over $100K in daily IAP revenue, according to AppMagic.

Interestingly, the game is currently competing with its clone, Colony Flow by ABI Game Studio, which is generating $150K+ per day in IAP revenue.

So, let’s look at the design behind Food Hunt and what made it successful enough to be copied.

Familiar Concept
The game follows an iteration of Pixel Flow concept, which was first explored with ants by Estoty‘s Ants Flow. Despite being an early mover, Ants Flow hasn’t managed to scale significantly yet.

Compared to Pixel Flow, these games replace the shooting pigs with colored ants and the looping conveyor belt with the ants’ natural movement. However, this swarming behavior of the ants introduces more unpredictability, adding an element of luck to what is otherwise a fairly strategic puzzle loop.

Slow Progression
This game can feel relatively slow compared to other hybrid puzzles due to how the ants move, unless the speed-up is active or all ant blocks have been deployed. Similar to other games, it uses deterministic levels, though the ants’ behavior can still influence the outcome. Difficulty labels help set player expectations, while boosters provide additional support in challenging situations. Additionally, LiveOps and new gameplay features are gradually introduced to keep the experience fresh and engaging.

Hybrid Monetization
The game uses both IAA and IAP monetization. Interstitial ads are delayed until level 15, while RV ads appear across several placements, including time-limited speed-up offers, level reward multipliers, life refills, and free coins in the shop. There is also a dedicated video bar that rewards players for reaching milestones by watching ads. All of these RV ad offers, have cooldown timers before they can be used again. As for IAPs, the game offers limited-time deals, a premium pass, ad removal, and additional bundles and coin packs through in-game shop.

Which top-charting puzzle game do you think will inspire the next hybrid casual puzzle hit?
